I am writing to follow up regarding the continuation of counselling sessions while you are residing overseas.
While I appreciate your wish to continue therapeutic support, I am unfortunately unable to provide ongoing services while you are located outside of Australia. This is due to professional, regulatory, and insurance limitations. As a registered psychologist, my professional indemnity insurance only covers the provision of services to clients who are physically located within Australia at the time of the session.
In addition, professional guidelines and organisational policy require that psychological services are delivered only within jurisdictions where appropriate registration, regulatory authority, and insurance coverage are in place. Continuing sessions while you are overseas would place both you and me outside these professional safeguards.
I understand that this may feel disappointing, particularly if you have found the sessions helpful, and I want to acknowledge the effort you have made in engaging with therapy. Your wellbeing remains important, and I would encourage you to consider accessing local mental health supports while you are overseas.
